Metaphysical Properties of Amber
• Element: Earth • Birthstone: Taurus • Chakras: Sacral (2nd), Solar Plexus (3rd) Since Amber is a fossil, it is often associated with ancestry, cycles, and longevity. Deriving its glowing energy properties from living organic trees, Amber exudes very positive, warm and familiar vibrations. Amber is regarded as a cleansing stone, transforming negative energies those of the clear and usable type. Whereas other stones and crystals were formed deep under the surface of the Earth, Amber is created by the transmutation of the Sun's light energies by plants and trees. Over time, that life force is solidified and stored into a material we now know as Amber. Due to this, Amber is powerful ally for those suffering from depression and a feeling of suppressed life force. • • •
History of Amber
Amber have been crafted into jewelry and ornaments since as early as 10,000 B.C. where Palaeolithic-era beads were discovered in Southern England. It has been in use since 2,500 B.C. in ancient Egypt and 2,000 B.C. in ancient Crete.

Chemical Composition of Amber
• Hardness: 2 to 2.5 • Crystal System: N/A • Composition: Fossilized Tree Resin Amber is a secretion by coniferous trees and composed of three elements: Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen. Due to the sensitive nature of Amber where oxidation occurs when exposed to oxygen, it is typically found in dense wet sediments, such as clay and sand, at the bottom of lagoons or deltas. Amber is generally a transparent yellow but due to oxidation can also be found in brown to reddish brown. Amber can frequently contain remains of other organic plant materials and fossilized insects and arachnids, some dating as far back as 100 million years ago. The best quality Amber, found in the Baltic region, was formed from the resins of coniferous trees some 30 to 50 million years ago.
