History of Aventurine

What is the history of Aventurine? The name for Aventurine actually originated from an accidental event. The name is from a ventura, meaning 'by chance', when Venetian glass workers in the 1700s accidentally mixed copper filing with molten glass, producing a special type of glass with sparkles.

Aventurine is a variety of Chalcedony, a member of the Quartz  family,is a silicon dioxide mineral with a hardness of 7. Aventurine can be found in four primary colors: green, blue, red/brown, and peach. The green coloration derives from Fuchsite particles within the gemstone, the red coloration is due to Hematite inclusions, and blue coloration is due to copper silicate deposits. Significant sources of Aventurine are found in Brazil, Chile, Italy, Spain, Austria, Russia, Tibet, Nepal, India, and China.
