Aragonite

Metaphysical Properties of Aragonite

• Element: Storm
• Birthstone: Capricorn, Cancer
• Chakras: All

What are the properties of Aragonite? Aragonite is a powerful ally for healing and balancing one's emotional body. It can assist in maintaining a center of calm and serenity in times of difficulties and in discharging subconsciously held tensions relating to past emotional wounds. Wearing Aragonite also enhances one's emotional strength and confidence. Because it works to stimulate all chakras, meditation with these beautiful and uniquely shaped crystal clusters can open the inner eye to visionary experiences of previous lives and forgotten events in this lifetime. While such recollection of memories can initially revive feelings of old wounds, it will hasten the removal of these attachments from the body and the auric field. These stones are beneficial in assisting one's conscious awareness of imbalances that exist within one's energy field. As previous fears and pain are cleared, one's loving emanations into the world is hastened. Due to this reason, Aragonite is a preferred diagnostic tool for crystal workers. These crystals should be cleaned frequently, at least once a week, under running water

Aragonite Chemical Composition

• Hardness: 3.5 to 4
• Crystal System: Orthorhombic
• Composition: Calcium Carbonate

What is Aragonite? Aragonite is a calcium carbonate mineral that is polymorphous to Calcite. Its chemical composition is the same as Calcite, although the crystal structures are different. Aragonite forms orthorhombic crystals, whereas Calcite forms trigonal crystals. Aragonite is the main component for the skeletons of many marine organisms, such as coral. In fact, the iridescent surface of pearl is a layer of Aragonite secreted by mollusks. The range of colors for Aragonite include white, gray, yellow-green, blue and red. The most desirable type of Aragonite are the reddish Aragonite Star Clusters from Morocco and the blue Aragonite from China. Other deposits of Aragonite can be found in Italy, Greece, Austria, England, Czech Republic, Mexico, Peru, Pakistan and the USA. Aragonite is known to form alongside Quartz, Calcite, Albite, Azurite, Chalcopyrite and Bornite.
