History of Apatite
The name Apatite originated from the Greek apate, which means "to deceive", alluding to Apate, the Greek goddess of deceipt, deception, and fraud. Apate was one of the spirits inside Pandora's box. Apatite was most likely given this name due to its similarity in colors and formations to other minerals such as olivine and beryl. Apate's Roman equivalent was Fraus, which is where the word "Fraud" originated from.
